| Formed in 2002, the 3 members that make up High Deafinition are: Drummer James Yorke Guitar/ Vocals Thomas Yorke Bass/ Vocals Gilles Beaulieu This young three piece band comprised of members whose ages are 15, 17 and 19 are not to be confused with other kids the same age, living on your block, playing music in their garage. This band has a serious work ethic, with serious music and some pretty serious local sales of their debut EP called Insert Title Here and their follow up The Motion Picture will be released in February 2006. Wasted youth is not a term you would use to describe these three extremely talented and dedicated individuals. High Deafinition has made so much noise since their inception that they were invited to play three Canadian dates on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour, and at the end of 2004, they placed in the top 6 in Ontario as part of the Solo Music Series/Alexisonfire Basement Band Contest. Hi Deaf formed in 2002 at the ripe young age of 10, 12 and 14 and havent looked back. Hailing from the small town of Val Caron Ontario, a rural suburb of the more recognizable Sudbury Ontario. Comprised of two brothers and one very close friend James Yorke, Tom Yorke and Gilles Beaulieu started like every other band, in a garage trying to learn the songs made famous by their favourite bands. To tell you the truth James Yorke, the younger of the two brothers, was actually bullied into playing the drums by his older brother Tom, but he has not only grown to enjoy playing, he has mastered the art of punk poise, speed and technique that would make even Travis Barker take a second look. Now 14 years of age, James is one of the highlights of the band leaving even the most seasoned music veterans enamoured with his skill level. Tom Yorke was given his first guitar at the age of 10 and has since honed his skill as a songwriter and live performer. His combustible and enigmatic live presence is surprisingly seasoned, more like a road warrior than a young teen. Tom takes his songwriting seriously and works diligently at this craft. At 16 years of age, Tom has already latched onto a style, sound and direction, a feat that cant often be said about other musicians his age. Rounding out this three piece is Gilles Beaulieu on bass. Starting out his musical career early on in life taking piano lessons, his songwriting ability is the perfect compliment or counterpoint if you will to that of Toms. A force live, Gilles performance is delivered with passion and authority. A true believer in what they are doing and a consummate professional, Gilles pushes the envelope always working to get the best out of himself, the band and the fans. Gilles approaches every live show with an axe wielding head of steam and in your face attitude. Both Gilles and Tom share vocal duties in every song allowing for some interesting melodies to overlap. This technique transfers well to their live show making both of the boys lead vocalists and relying less on one singer as the centre of attention. Recently they have just wrapped the recording of their second release The Motion Picture. This album shows a maturity that only all of the experiences of the last year and half can offer. Watching their favourite bands day in and day out on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour and opening for other bands such as Closet Monster, Moneen, The Black Maria, The Waking Eyes, Thornley, Oliver Black, etc. has made a dramatic impact on both their songwriting and musical outlook. |
